The Mayor of TriBeCa - Downtown Magazine NYC - published January 30, 2018 (online and pdf)
This is a human interest piece I wrote about a sprightly 74-year-old gentleman and the TriBeCa, New York City neighborhood where he is employed. This man is a genuine true-to-life character thoroughly devoted to his profession and the district where he works in Lower Manhattan. He lives for the absolute enjoyment of coming to work each day. His trade is that of an outside parking lot attendant. He has held the very same position, at the very same street location (working six and sometimes seven days per week), for 31 consecutive years. The article examines TriBeCa (past and present), through the keen eyes of this much beloved individual, whose captivating presence has delighted more than two generations of neighborhood residents, which include the likes of young children and their parents, shop owners, celebrities, artists, and Wall Street analysts, who have fondly come to address him as the mayor.
